Learn more about Malta’s heritage – including the quirky bits!
Join us this Friday for a guided walk around Valletta in the steps of Grandmaster Pinto who was elected grandmaster at the age of 60 as an ‘interim’ grandmaster, thinking he would not live long. However Pinto defied all expectations and lived a colourful, flamboyant life until he died aged 92.
Pinto loved Valletta, taking a very active part in social life, and commissioning many important buildings including the elegant Castellania, the Knights’ Law Courts and remodelling the Auberge de Castille. He also enriched the Conventual Church and built a number of stores at the Marina which still bear his name.
Join Vincent Zammit and Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar to hear about one of Malta’s most colourful grandmasters, along with his activities and landmark buildings constructed during his reign from 1741-1773.
