The 2018 edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival comes to a close with a symphonic concert at St George’s Basilica.
This year’s edition of the festival is fittingly being dedicated to Mro Joseph Vella, the festival’s long-standing artistic director, whose recent passing left Malta’s music community in shock.
Philip Walsh will now be conducting this concert, but the programme remains the one selected by Mro Vella, featuring a selection of works from Russian composers, including Glazunov’s Violin Concerto – with Carmine Lauri as soloist – as well as one of his own compositions.
